DESCRIPTION:The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) invites the community to a Construction Open House both in-person and virtually for the SR 607/Emerson Avenue Resurfacing Project within St. Lucie County. \nThe Virtual Public Meeting is scheduled for Thursday\, December 19\, 2024\, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please use the following link to register: https://bit.ly/3zUje4Z. FDOT staff and consultant staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. If you are not able to join the online session\, a recording of it will be posted at https://www.d4fdot.com/tcfdot/index.asp. \nThe project improvements consist of milling and resurfacing the travel lanes to enhance safety and long-term resiliency\, widening the existing 5-foot paved shoulder to 7-feet to enhance safety\, constructing sidewalk (varying from 6 to 12 feet in width) along the east side of SR 607/Emerson Avenue from Hibiscus Road to North Road to enhance safety and connectivity for pedestrians\, upgrading curb ramps along existing sidewalks to enhance safety and connectivity for pedestrians\, installing concrete pads at two existing bus stops along northbound SR 607/Emerson Avenue\, located approximately 300 feet south of Hibiscus Road and approximately 100 feet north of Belleair Avenue\, to enhance safety\, functionality\, and long-term resiliency\, and upgrading signage and pavement markings to improve safety\, functionality\, and traffic operations.\nConstruction will begin in January 2025 at a cost of $6.4 million and is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2026. \nCommunity feedback is at the core of all we do\, FDOT works with the public to balance their community vision with the community’s transportation needs. Addition of a shared‐use path along Old Dixie\nHighway to connect Suntrail and the East Coast\nGreenway.\nNew bridge will span over FEC Railroad and Old Dixie\nHighway. As a result of new bridge connecting directly to\nUS‐1\, there will be three additional roads: New access\nroad to businesses to the east of FEC Railroad\, extension\nof Juanita Avenue\, and an extension of Sunny Lane.\nImprovements to Old Dixie Highway between Juanita\nAvenue and Sunny Lane.\nObservation deck and parking under the new\nSR A1A bridge.
